20 to 30 year old White Male

Discovered June 5, 1936 Cleveland, Ohio

The coroner commented the victim looked to be of Slavic or possibly Scandinavian descent. 
He had six tattoos; One on the left calf was the character Jiggs from the comic strip Bringing Up Father. On the right calf was an anchor under a superimposed Cupid. On the right forearm was "Helen-Paul" over a dove. A butterfly on the right shoulder. On the left forearm was crossed flags. Also on the left forearm were the initials WCG with an arrow through a heart. The tattoos may have suggested a naval background of the victim.

This man is also known as the "Tattooed Man" and Victim #5 of the Kingsbury Run Murders. Read about that here.

A reader emailed me some ideas about this John Doe having been on this ship and it looks pretty promising!

If anyone can find rosters for this ship I'd appreciate it. The John Doe was found June 5, 1936 so he would have been on it when it was named Skaneateles (1934 - 1937) or WCG-209 (1925 - 1933)
