On 7/3/1982 at approx 23:55 hours he was struck by a vechicle while crossing the 110 fwy at 6th St. in Los Angeles. He was transported to local hospital where he was later pronounced on 7/4/1982.

He's in the right age range to have been on this ship:

USS Fletcher - DD-445 (1942) "Lucky 13" Only US ship to survive undamaged from Naval Battle Of Guadalcanal on the morning of 11/13/1942.
